OUR RECTOR
I have learned many things from God through life’s experiences. One of the most valuable being the importance of relationship. In essence, my theology is rooted in a quote from the 13th century theologian Thomas Aquinas, “The one thing our souls desire most is to be in friendship with God.” It is this basis that defines my ministry; to be a friend with God in all avenues of life. I have come to realize that to be friends with God is to be in relationship with the people of God. My hope and prayer is that we become friends through God to share the vast enormity of God’s love and grace with the world around us. This is why the first thing we are called to do at St. Stephen’s is for us to become friends.
VESTRY (Church Organizing Board)
The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. Vestry members are elected at the annual parish meeting, and serve three-year terms. The presiding officer of the vestry is the Rector. The Senior Warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector. The Junior Warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings.
The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the Rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances
