Our Rector & Staff

Rector

Father Kevin began his ministry as the rector of St. Stephen's in September 2020. He is a 2007 graduate of The Seminary of The Southwest in Austin. In his free time he enjoys canoeing, hiking, gardening, reading, watching baseball, and cooking. He and his wife, Heather, have two boys, Holden and Harper.

Father Kevin's ministry is engulfed in the pursuit of building relationships with one another and God. His theology is grounded in the Episcopal Church traditions and beliefs, and can best be defined by the 13th-century Theologian Thomas Aquinas quote, "The one thing our souls desire most is to be in friendship with God."

Assisting Rector

Tim has been assigned by the diocese to St. Stephen's for three years, beginning in August 2023. Having graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest with a Diploma in Anglican Studies, Tim is now a full-time member of our staff.

We are grateful to have Tim, his wife Suzy, and their two daughters in the St. Stephen's community.

Receptionist

Robyn is a native Texan who grew up in San Antonio, and a proud Mama to one precious daughter who attends school here at St. Stephen’s beautiful campus. Robyn has served in several different roles here at St. Stephen’s church and school over the past five years, and is truly grateful to be able to assist both the staff and the amazing and supportive community members at St. Stephen’s in her role as receptionist.

In her own words:  I work at my happy place!  “I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do?"

Children's Minister

Elisa Webster is the mother of six and have been an educator both here in the United States and in South Africa for over 38 years.  She spent her childhood on mission farms and in the rural town of Melmoth, in Zululand South Africa. Her early teaching career was spent in in New Hampshire and Colorado, after which she returned to South Africa to start schools for those who had been marginalized during the struggle against Apartheid. Elisa returned to the USA in 2019 as her mother turned 85 and three of her children settled here.

Elisa is an  artist and author of children’s books following in the footsteps of her grandmother who was an American landscape artist. She was led by God to Wimberley to continue her mission to open the hearts and minds of young people to the wonders of the world, and our creator and sustainer.

Vestry

The vestry is the legal representative of the parish regarding all matters pertaining to its corporate property. Vestry members are elected at the annual parish meeting and serve three-year terms. The presiding officer of the vestry is the Rector. The Senior Warden leads the parish between rectors and serves as a support person for the rector. The Junior Warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings.

The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation, support the church’s mission by word and deed, select the Rector, ensure effective organization and planning, and manage resources and finances.
